After dropping their first two games of the season to nationally ranked Alabama and Washington, the Buckeyes ran off nine of the next 10 games to finish 7-1 in the Big Ten, tying Michigan for a Co-Big Ten Championship. The Buckeyes went into enemy territory and faced eighth ranked Texas A&M in the 1987 Cotton Bowl. After a close first half, Ohio State's defense turned it up a notch. Legendary linebacker Chris Spielman had the first of two pick sixes as the Buckeyes pounded the Aggies, 28-12. Jim Karsatos and Vince Workman each had touchdown runs, and Michael Kee had the other interception return for a touchdown.
