Very Rare 1920 Early Concept Ohio Stadium Press Photo & Fundraising Drive Note used for a press release. The challenge to alumni, fans, and friends was to raise $1,000,000 before the Board of Trustees would vote on the Ohio Stadium project. This press release was dated for September 1, 1920, with an early rendering photograph of Ohio Stadium.
Ohio Stadium was completed in the fall of 1922 and wound up costing $1.5M including personal loans. The entire debt for the stadium was paid off by 1928. Coming up on 100 years old, "The Shoe" now stands as one of the greatest venues in college football history.
This photo was trimmed in the top right corner, but can still be matted perfectly and framed because the white border is still present. The back of the photo is stamped PRESS REFERENCE DEPARTMENT and dated September 13, 1920. A seldom seen piece of Ohio Stadium history!
