Extremely rare "The Ohio Stadium" booklet, published in 1920 to explain the need, the solution, and encourage the necessary contributions to make the dream of a new football venue in Columbus a reality. In 1919, a full capacity crowd of 20,000 took in Chic Harley's final home game, while an estimated 20,000 more were turned away. Thousands broke down the fence as the game kicked off, the enthusiasm for Ohio State football had reached full throttle. Ohio State football had outgrown their Ohio Field home and they needed help getting to where they needed to go.  This 16-page publication was assembled and distributed to local businesses, citizens, and faculty members ahead of "Stadium Week." This booklet aimed at procuring the $1,000,000 Stadium Fund that would be needed to build what would become "The Shoe." 

Inside, it contains beautiful pictures and renderings of Ohio Stadium and its land near the banks of the Olentangy River.  It discussed the problem the University was currently facing, gave a proposed solution including the structural design of a 63,000 seat U-shaped stadium, and discussed how they needed alumni, the city of Columbus, and the state of Ohio to step up and take pride in this dream project.

The urgency placed upon those reading this in those days can be felt throughout.  As the great Chic Harley stated inside, "We're heart and soul for this Stadium, the fellows who know what it is to go in there and fight with all that's in us for Ohio State and her glory."

The time was now (1920) for Ohio State to separate themselves and take the next step into becoming the national power they soon would become.

This very scarce booklet shows a vertical fold down the middle where the original owner likely stowed it in his back pocket. A small piece in the bottom left of the cover has been torn off.  Overall, it's in great shape and a must for the vintage Ohio State collector.
