Vintage Scrapbook Album Page consisting of four original snapshots from Ohio State's 14-13 dramatic win over Wisconsin during their 1916 undefeated season. It was Homecoming at Ohio Field and Wisconsin got on the board first. Behind a fake punt by Chic Harley, he darted around the left end, cut back, and eluded two Badgers on his way to a 25-yard run that tied the score. After a scoreless third quarter, Harley again stepped up on special teams. Chic fielded a punt from his own 22 yard lane and outran Wisconsin's unit on his way to a 78-yard return for a touchdown.
Wisconsin scored late to bring them within a single point with the clock winding down. With a chance to tie it, Wisconsin's kicker dropped the ball and Ohio State remained undefeated with their second consecutive one-point win.
As the 1917 Makio stated, "Wisconsin's sensational march goalward which ended in a touchdown and the dropped kickout completed what was probably the most significant game in Ohio State football history."
Chic scored two touchdowns that day and one of the captions reads, "First Touchdown" referring to a snapshot that captured a 27-yard touchdown by Harley.
Amazing that these snapshots existed, let alone survived nearly 110 years. An unbelievable piece of history that is sure to find its way in an incredible collection!
