Game program from the Ohio Stadium Debut on October 7, 1922. Ohio State hosted Ohio Wesleyan on a rainy day in Columbus in front of 25,000 spectators. The Buckeyes' first points in their new home came when they blocked an OWU punt for a safety. All-American Hoge Workman drop kicked a field goal for the only other points scored in the game in a 5-0 opening win. In the third quarter, a rainbow could be seen in the overcast sky as "many read as an omen of promise for the greater battles that are to follow."
Ohio Stadium has turned into one of the greatest venues in college football history. Over 12,000 individuals helped raise over one million dollars towards the $1.5M project. On this Saturday in 1922, it was a cause for celebration as the dream was achieved. As The Lantern put it, "All walks of life were represented when leaders came from far and near to pay their respects to The Ohio State University's new athletic plant."
Program has all its pages and is intact. A couple players pictures were cut out by the original owner and the center scoring page is loose on the top staple. Brown toning evident on the cover where something likely rest on it over many years.
