For the fourth straight year, Ohio State dominated Michigan under head coach Francis Schmidt in 1937. The Buckeyes shutout the Wolverines in Ann Arbor, 21-0, behind two touchdowns by third stringer Jim Miller. The other touchdown came from right halfback Dick Nardi. Ohio State finished the season at 6-2 and ranked 13th in the country.
These rare Gold Pants were awarded to a future All-American Vic Marino following Ohio State's season-ending victory. Marino was a three-year starter, winning All-American honors in the 1939 season. He went on to play 13 games in the AAFC for the Baltimore Colts, starting four games.
