Collector Edward Koczela of Adams, Massachusetts, set out to get autographs through the mail in the 1970's. Focused on All-Americans and College Hall of Famers, Koczela sent out thick cardstock that measures approximately 3.5" x 6.5", a perfect fit in a standard sized envelope.
This particular return came from College Hall of Famer and 1942 NFL Draftee "Big Jim" Daniell. He obliged the request, signing beautifully in black fiber tip marker. The signature is massive and Daniell added the inscription "Best Wishes" and followed his signature with "OSU 41".
Daniell was inducted into the College Hall of Fame in 1977 and Ohio State's Varsity O Hall of Fame in 2013.
