Ohio State football, as we know it, started collegiately in 1890. Right guard Paul Lincoln was elected captain for Ohio State's first full schedule that fall. Positive results wouldn't come yet, but the milestone of starting the program was a significant one-- especially seeing what Buckeye football has become today. This highly desired cut signature was obtained at one of the Captain's Breakfasts events years later after Francis Schmidt started the tradition. It has been affixed to the back of a blank Government Postcard.
