In the traditional college football structure, the Rose Bowl was everything to the Big Ten.  Top ranked Ohio State traveled to Pasadena for the 1980 Rose Bowl to face third ranked USC. The Trojans with a late score from the Heisman Trophy winner Charles White beat the Buckeyes, 17-6.  This hat commemorates one of the most watched football games to date.  All of Ohio State's offense that day signed this hat-- Kicker Vlade Janakievski had two field goals and an extra point. The only touchdown was a 67-yard pass from Art Schlichter to Gary Williams.  Also signed by head coach Earle Bruce, Doug Donley, Marcus Marek, and Michael guess. All signed the hat in black sharpie.

The 1997 Rose Bowl pitted two of the top teams in the country with fourth ranked Ohio State representing the Big Ten and second ranked Arizona State representing the Pac 10. After ASU's Jake Plummer scrambled for an 11-yard touchdown in the game's final minutes, it looked as if "The Snake" would rally his team to another come-from-behind win. Instead, Ohio State's star wide receiver, David Boston, caught a touchdown with 19 seconds to play to give Ohio State an upset win, 20-17.  The Buckeyes finished second ranked in the country and gave John Cooper his only Rose Bowl win at Ohio State.  This hat memorializes one of the most thrilling games in Rose Bowl history. It is signed by quarterback Stanley Jackson, who added, "1997 Capt"
