A head coach Jim Tressel signed ticket to the double overtime thriller between Ohio State and Miami that ended with him hoisting Ohio State's seventh national championship trophy. For the third straight game for Ohio State, the game would come down to the final play of the game. Nursing a 31-24 lead, an unblocked Cie Grant rushed around the right end and forced Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey to throw a pass aimlessly. It fell incomplete, setting off a celebration for the ages. Coach Tressel inscribed the ticket, "Yea Ohio!" and added 14-0 underneath the signature, the final record for the 2002 Buckeyes.
