Needing double-overtime the week before to stay undefeated, the 2002 Ohio State-Michigan game would also come down to the last play of the game. With Ohio State trailing 9-6 in the 4th Quarter, Maurice Clarett caught a wheel route out of the backfield for 26 yards to setup the Buckeyes. Maurice Hall punched in the go-ahead score from three yards out with less than five minutes remaining. On the game's last play, All-American Will Allen intercepted a John Navarre pass near the goal line that preserved the win and OSU's undefeated season. Ohio State would go on to defeat Miami in double overtime in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl to claim the school's seventh national championship.  These hard-to-come-by Gold Pants were awarded to a reserve wide receiver after Ohio State's 13th win of the season. The recipient's initials have been blurred digitally to protect his identity.
