Known for his razzle-dazzle, high scoring offense, Schmidt’s teams put up a lot of points and won a lot of games. The intensity was raised dramatically in what is now known as The Game.  In 1934, Schmidt introduced the tradition of the Gold Pants, which are given to players and staff members after a win over Michigan.  He famously uttered the words to his players, “They put their pants on one leg at a time, the same as the rest of us.” His players responded by shutting out the Wolverines, 114-0, in Schmidt’s first four season for the Buckeyes.

Schmidt finished his head coaching career with an impressive record of 156-58-11. He passed away in September of 1944 at the age of 58. He was later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

Legendary Athletic Directory Lynn St. John also signed this page next to his picture. He was the basketball coach from 1911-1919 and also the baseball coach from 1913-1928. "Saint" served as Ohio State's second Athletic Director from 1912-1947 and was responsible for the most important hire in school history, luring J.W. Wilce to coach OSU's mediocre football team. He served on the NCAA Rules Committee from 1912 to 1937 along with James Naismith. The iconic St. John Arena was built in 1956 for basketball and named after him. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1962, Ohio State's Varsity O Hall of Fame in 1977, and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.

All-Americans Gomer Jones and Sid Gillman also signed their autographs next to themselves in the coaching staff photo.  Also includes signatures from Fritz Mackey, Ernie Godfrey, John Edward Blickle, and the team manager.  The F in

Francis Schmidt's fountain pen signature smeared, but this program page is a rarity and a collection of history that is very desired.
