Forcing six Michigan turnovers, Ohio State handed their archrival their only Big Ten loss of the season, 24-14, in 1982.  Senior tailback Tim Spencer scored on two runs inside the five, his second being the game-clinching touchdown. Ohio State finished the season 7-3 after defeating BYU in the Holiday Bowl, missing out on a Rose Bowl berth by percentage points. The 1982 season also saw freshman Keith Byars get his first carry in the rivalry.  Two seasons later, Byars would finish second in the 1984 Heisman Trophy balloting after a true "Hail Mary" kept him from taking home the most prestigious individual award in college football.

These rare Gold Pants were awarded to a former Starting Linebacker following Ohio State's 10-point win. The recipient's initials have been blurred digitally to protect his identity.
