Lot Description  

Team signed football by more than 80 players and coaches from the 1972 Ohio State Big Ten Championships football team.  The Buckeyes went 9-1 in the regular season with their only loss happening in East Lansing against Michigan State by a touchdown. They finished tied with Michigan at 7-1 in the Big Ten and got the nod to the 1973 Rose Bowl.  Stamped on the main part of the ball "OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY" and something appears to have been whited out above that.  It includes signatures of a few All-Americans including assistant coach Esco Sarkkinen, who was an All-American in 1939 under Francis Schmidt. Missing from this ball is freshman Archie Griffin and head coach Woody Hayes.
