The 2011 season will be remembered for Jim Tressel's sudden ouster just after coaching the Spring Game and Ohio State elevating Luke Fickell to be the interim head coach due to Tattoo Gate. With rumors swirling all season that Urban Meyer might be returning to coach in Columbus, Ohio State was only able to muster a 6-6 mark during the regular season. With a choice to self-impose a one-game bowl ban and rid any chance of the NCAA issuing one of their own in Meyer's first season, Athletic Director Gene Smith was a bit overconfident and decided to play in the Gator Bowl against Florida. With a lot of Meyer's players on the UF roster, the Gators defeated Ohio State 24-17 to capture the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.  This ring is a size 13 and was issued to a reserve offensive lineman. The image bearing the recipient's name has been blurred digitally to protect his identity.
