Jack Nicklaus was born in a superb of Columbus in Upper Arlington, Ohio. He was an all-around athlete, but really separated himself after picking up the game of golf at the age of 10. Before he had turned the age of 18, he had already won 27 events in the state of Ohio. He was recruited to play college basketball, but opted to play golf for his hometown Buckeyes. While attending Ohio State, Jack won the U.S. Amateur twice. In 1961, Nicklaus became the first player ever to win the individual title at the NCAA Championship and the U.S. Amateur in the same year.
"The Golden Bear" went on to win 73 PGA Tour events, including 18 majors. That number right there is the reason for this custom jersey getting the number 18 with the Nicklaus nameplate above it. He won the Masters six times, the PGA Championship five times, the US Open four times, and the Open Championship three times. He was the PGA Player of the Year in 1967, 1972, 1973, 1975, and 1976. At the age of 46, Nicklaus shocked the golfing world by shooting a 65 and winning his 18th and final major by capturing the 1986 Masters in Augusta, Georgia.
He was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. Nicklaus was inducted into Ohio State's inaugural Varsity O Hall of Fame Class in 1977.
Nicklaus signed this authentic size 42 jersey (same as team's) masterfully in black sharpie at the top of the scarlet 8 on the back.
