Offered is a College Seal Tobacco Silk from the Egyptienne Co. c1911 for The Ohio State University.
During the early 20th century, American tobacco companies produced a myriad of Tobacco Premiums that were free with the purchase of tobacco products and later mailing in the packaging labels to claim a premium.
Around 1910 there was about a four-year "window" when the focus of the marketing efforts featured American Colleges and Universities. The Egyptienne Co. issued an exquisitely woven Egyptienne Luxury silk series (series consisted of 150 schools) that included a school’s seal and name. This lot is from that Egyptienne Luxury Series. This silk measures 1.75" wide x 3.25" tall.
